Being Mindful Secondary Schools

Our programs mindfully address issues facing young people today

Mindfulness Programs

We're proud be able to offer the .b (dot be) program - the UK's leading Mindfulness Program for Teens

.b aims to help young people:

  • To experience greater well-being (e.g. feel happier, calmer, more fulfilled)
  • To fulfil their potential and pursue their own goals e.g. be more creative, more relaxed, academically and personally
  • To improve their concentration and focus, in classes, in exams and tests, on the sports field, when playing games, when paying attention and listening to others
  • To work with difficult mental states such as depressive, ruminative and anxious thoughts and low moods
  • To cope with the everyday stresses and strains of adolescent life such as exams, relationships, sleep problems, family issues

Our mindfulness programs can also be combined with Yoga enhancing physical, mental and emotional health and well-being.

As they move through their secondary years young people face a variety of issues: relationships with friends; romantic relationships; relationship to themselves including body image and sense of self worth; healthy use of social media; managing stress and anxiety; exam stress; managing the pressure of school work; and concerns about life after school. Our programs mindfully address these issues, encouraging self-reflection and fostering empathy, gratitude, compassion and nurturing happier, optimistic young people with an increased sense of wellbeing.

......1 in 16 young Australians are currently experiencing depression
......1 in 6 young Australians are currently experiencing an anxiety condition
......1 in 4 young Australians currently has a mental health condition
......Suicide is the biggest killer of young Australians

.......Young people are most concerned about coping with stress, school or study problems and body image*

Yoga Programs

Yoga for Wellbeing

A comprehensive mind, body and emotional health and well-being program.

We include mindfulness of thoughts and feelings, and the components of heartfulness - gratitude, kindness and empathy.

Physically we gradually build the students strength, stability and flexibility, supporting them to challenge themselves through developing greater body awareness and confidence. We introduce breathing techniques that help to balance energy levels, meditation and relaxation.

Our programs are fully adaptable to meet the needs of your school.

Peak Performance Yoga for Sport

Using the latest research in yoga for sports our programs are intelligently crafted to systemically work through the entire body:

Building strength, flexibility, body awareness, co-ordination and balance.

We tie in Mindfulness for sports, using mindfulness techniques that many professional athletes are now using.

Offering yoga within the Sports/PE curriculum not only adds variety to your timetable but also helps to improve the strength, flexibility, body awareness, co-ordination and balance of your students. Helping to prevent sporting injuries and support growing bodies. As well as physical activities our programs include mindfulness, breathing techniques, meditation and relaxation and are fun, engaging and age-appropriate.

Of course mindfulness benefits teachers too. Teachers will reap the benefits of mindfulness simply by being an active participant in the classroom, however there are also the options to undertake the Teacher Training and/or develop your own practice through our Mindfulness Meditation course.

Being Mindful were a pleasure to work with. They displayed professionalism and warmth to our students at all times. The students learnt not only some valuable skills in regard to yoga, but also some skills in mindfulness and how to shut off the outside world for a little bit and enjoy the quiet. I would highly recommend them and look forward to working with them again.
